I See London… Wait, What’s London? (CATastrophe Part 2: End)

I See London… Wait, What’s London?

I woke up to the sound of banging and yelling on the door that was soon followed by the door being pushed open with the various objects that were pressed against the door flying away in a single burst as a large, ursine-eared man rushed in. “Are you alri-….” His question paused for some odd reason… I do not know why. I was simply laying in my bed, which I had moved away from the door before laying down and thinking of England. My legs were customarily spread open and, while I was still fully clothed, he seemed quite confused by my position.
After everything was sorted out and it was explained to me… in rather excruciating detail… as to how one is supposed to sleep for whatever possible reason… I grabbed breakfast, as they called it, from the cafeteria before being sent on my way on what was apparently my boat. From there… I learned to fish.
I sailed the seas... I fished, learned to fish, caught an assortment of fish, cephalopods, mollusks, and other creatures of note… and, after many years of only fishing… I learned one simple thing from the entire venture. Active patience. I knew of waiting in the dark for an untold amount of time… of silence, of simply waiting for something… anything… to happen. Here there was sound, there was the slow movement of the waves beneath the boat, the occasional sensation of hunger, of the hot sun, and of the gentle… or occasionally fierce… tug of the line. It was… relaxing.

Now to see where I may move onto next… Hopefully it isn’t England. I still don’t know where England is located, but I don’t like the sound of it.

A New Light And... What Do You Mean I Have To Eat? (CATastrophe Part 1)

Race: Kumami (Bears.) – Strong, great cardiovascular endurance and muscular strength, along with a good sense of smell and general focus.

Identity: Drop-In (0cp). Age 21.

Location: Boat – Started on a boat.

Perks---------------- 1000cp

Spliced (Free) – An improvement to strength, speed, health, durability, and my senses. It also makes it easier to retain my physique and my lifespan is now twice the human norm… as if I had to worry about such things to begin with. Diseases are rare and non-life threatening, usually only being as bad as the sniffles… What are “the sniffles”

Wanderer (50cpD) – Always able to find a place to stay for the night in relative comfort with a warm meal in my stomach.

Bear’s Might (Free) – A largely increased willpower, easily capable of lifting my own weight without too much strain. Brute force is not particularly my style, but it is a worthwhile weapon in its own right.

Salty Dog (300cpD) – I am now capable of manning boats… very well.

Snorkel Mask (Free) – Goggles and a plastic pipe… Hmm.

Bigger Boat! (150cp) – A moderately sized houseboat. One floor, two bed, one bath, a kitchenette, and even a living room. Radio and sonar included with a large fuel tank. Holds 20, houses 6. Comes with one of those bed-couches.

Super Rod (150cp) – A very well-made rod that can bend without snapping. Hand-crank or automated reeling with a line to weather the greatest of storms. That and a heat-seeking lure… Which I do not think would work in warm waters.

Grappling Hook (50cp) – A small grappling hook with a 750 foot range with automatic reeling and extending of the line… Can also support three times my weight for whatever reason.

Arc Rifle (300cp) – A cobbled weapon that shoots a powerful bolt of lightning at a maximum range of 300 feet. May arc and, if it does, can be quite dangerous to the user. Ammo is of no issue, considering my personal abilities.

A New Light and… What Do You Mean I Must Eat?
The sun was gleaming off the metal of the ship, the glittering waters that the massive construct gently floated across with a much smaller boat being tugged along behind it. After having been fished out of the calm, still waters by these people with animal ears and tails… and mouths and noses… not to mention actual eyes, something I had only seen upon Jumpchan’s visage, as well as my own to a degree.
The ship’s captain, a dog-eared man who was kind enough to provide me with a room inside of the ship to stay until the next settlement that he had already been heading toward, had stated that he found me after a sea-bound storm had crossed through the area with the houseboat floating nearby.
However, after having been pulled up out of the water, I felt a hint… different… besides the variety of color that this world seemed to possess, I felt a much more solid. I was unable to adjust my form at will, though, I did feel as if there was an internal switch to make it so that I could… I was warm, felt as if I had hair, and I could move some small ball at the base of my spine.
In private, I tested my abilities… I was still capable of summoning my weapons, my clothing remained wrapped around every inch of my being… though, it was still soaked and chilly after having been pulled out of the water. I had politely declined the offer of a new set of clothes to replace the ones that I currently possessed. My curiosity slowly peaked, but my answer was given by the mirror in the bathroom. I was one of them… However, my ears were small and the tail I possessed was a small ball of fur. However, despite my original, natural form, my eyes were oddly brown, my hair short and trimmed down in a random, wild fashion that lift it rather… unkempt. Lightly tanned skin, a strong frame...
It was utterly disgusting. No flexibility, too many colors, this constant gnawing in my gut that was accompanied by a growl every now and then that brought only weakness and agitation. Who would choose to be so… fleshy? I would, but only to remain hidden within the population. They found my attire strange for a fisherman… As they called me such a thing… but, it was better than them seeing me as a monster that was not one of them.
It did not matter where I was at this moment in time… What was important was that I recover, figure out what is different with my anatomy, and go my own way for the next ten years. They say that I was a fisherman… Then that is what I shall become for these ten years.
I waited through the night, my stomach growling the entire evening while my eyes slowly became heavy… It was as if a pair of sandbags were stapled to my eyelids, attempting to drag them down while I worked on troubling those that were still awake to find out whatever I could about the world, its inhabitants, and where I might find some more information and being the fisherman that they claimed that I was. The people I bothered asked why I needed to know, so I responded with something akin to “I would like to learn more about my trade” whenever I had to answer them. At least these people seemed to be more polite than those that I had interacted with in the world of my origin… They had weapons, but not at all times, nor did they seem hostile to anything that possessed a shred of independent thought.
Come morning, the sun burning my poor, exhausted eyes while my gut wrenched with every motion of the boat. It wasn’t until I was directed down into the mess hall and the scent of what could only be food got my attention. That seemed to perk me up a hint and, just to test my hypothesis, I went on to get a few things for what they claimed to be breakfast. It was delicious and, despite the how they stared at me when I began to swallow the food without chewing… up until I began choking and someone had to remind me that I needed to breathe… and to chew my food… it sated the turning in my gut for the moment. However, I was still quite tired. Yes… Tired. That was a good word for it.

Once they saw the shadows around my eyes, one of the fox-eared people directed me back to my room and asked me to go to sleep… I took them up on their request once they had left and all of the furniture, including the bed, was stacked up against the door for the purpose of safety. Despite their calm, pleasant exteriors, for all I knew they might still attack me in the middle of the night. At least I would be free to sleep… Now… How does one sleep?

Well… That Was a Sudden Turn of Events (Madness Combat Part 6: End)

Well… That Was a Sudden Turn of Events

It wasn’t too long before I approached the warehouse, having walked a decent few miles while cutting my way through the hordes that had managed to locate me during my travels in an attempt to slow me down or even slaughter me where I stood with little success on their part. A few injuries of varying degree and of varying sources. As I stepped up to the warehouse, off in the distance a large burst of light came forth, blanketing the land and me with it.
That was all there was… Instead of darkness, there was light… for an unknown amount of time, somewhere between nine and ten years I was left within that abyss as those were the years that I would remain in this world… It came to an end and, the next thing I knew, I was being pulled up in what seemed to be a net. My body was drenched in what seemed to be water, the air was salty, and the people that were hauling me up onto what appeared to be a very large boat were not grey… No, they had eyes, ears of varying kinds, and looked quite different… Human would be the word that came to mind, but they possessed animal-like characteristics, as well.

The world was new… and I honestly had to wonder if I was bound to be attacked here just as I was before.

((For those of you who have not seen the Madness series of flash animations... The series only lasts a few days at most before the world is changed in an unknown way. In other words... Cop out!))

I Tried Not Killing... (Madness Combat Part 5)

I Tried Not Killing…

With a quick twist of my body and a flash of fire, I summoned my sword and slammed the tip of the blade into a point next to the door handle. A quick jerk up, a quick pull down, and then withdrew the sword and raised one of my feet up. Sadly, they were not kind enough to provide me with ample time to escape.
The beeping ceased and was immediately followed by a deafening bang. I was launched through the door and slammed into the opposite wall back out in the hallway. My body was torn in a few places, the gaps in the smoke revealing movement as I forced myself back up onto my feet. The matter that my body was constituted of slowly reformed and pulled itself back together as I stood, my hand reaching down to retrieve my sword and hold it close. “You all… Need to learn some manners.”
My statement was greeted with quite an aggressive response… As always. Men in black suits with red glasses charged forth with an assortment of melee weapons in hand. Machetes, knives, clubs, what can only be considered a megachete, pipes, and a wrench or two were what they brought… They wouldn’t be enough. The first two stepped up, my body lunging forward to impale the first on the right, leaving my left hand to come up with a conjured knife to block the other grunt’s attack and counter it with a quick jab of the blade into the man’s throat. So untrained. I withdrew the knife and threw it into the closest, proceeding grunt before stepping forward, the edge of my sword gliding through the now severed body of the first grunt to stab into the forehead of another.
I took a step with every attack, the sword gliding through their corpses before being followed by a splash of blood that coated the walls and my clothing. One stepped up with what appeared to be a larger gun… but, it wasn’t a shotgun… I stepped up and ran through one of the melee grunts to use him as a shield, my free hand coming up with a summoned pistol to return fire. Holes appeared where the pieces of metal struck, shattering his glasses and sending him to the ground.
More followed suit as I made my way through the building, cutting down those within reach and, after having figured out what the gun he was carrying did and was, mowed down those I came across who chose to remain at a distance and place their faith in their own firearms in the hopes that I would not reach them. For those that ran, I did not pursue… For those that stayed, they chose their own fate… That of a painful, bloody death like those that came before them.

As I stepped out of the building and slowly made my way back down the street. It was time for me to visit my little warehouse.

The Sheriff May See You Now (Madness Combat Part 4)

The Sheriff May See You Now

It was easy enough to commandeer one of the patrol cars and, supposedly, make our way toward the Sheriff’s office with my new companion at the wheel. Despite my apparent resistance to physical trauma, my body was having to take a moment to heal from the few injuries I sustained. The clothing was warping to create a wrapping of bandaging around my visible abdomen as the injuries slowly healed, the mass of my form pulling together as we went along. A shirt of wrappings… Hmm… Fitting in a way. A means of keeping my body pulled together into a proper, humanoid shape.
I asked the man where we were in this world, what the Sheriff might want with someone such as myself, and anything else he might be aware of. He did not tell me of much… Only that we were in Nevada, that the Sheriff most likely wanted me dead once he found out what I had done, and very little past that point. It was almost as if he had no life to speak of… Granted, neither did I. All he knew was that I was not the only one who has attacked and killed good, hard working men.
So, I asked him about the others… He did not know anything about them before they began working together. In truth, they did not know anything about themselves before a certain point. Strange. We both sat silently, my mind mulling over these thoughts and why the sky appeared to be a very subtle red. This was nothing like the woman that had pulled me from the void… Only greys, blacks, whites, and reds… The people humanoid with grey flesh, and an odd plus sign on their head where their face would be, and all of them so violent.
My thoughts were broken as we pulled up to a building. I thanked him and stepped out of the car, the pistol that I confiscated from him still in hand. I stepped up to the building and walked right in without issue. There was another one of the grunts… They all looked the same to me… sitting at a desk with papers in hand. I simply stated that I had an appointment with the Sheriff and they directed me toward a room. Led me right to the room and, once we had arrived, he went on his way.
I stepped inside to find… predictably… nothing of use to me. It was a room with a television on a small, wooden, fold-out table that seemed to be more fit for holding a small plate of food than the box that sat upon it. It turned on, a man in a wide-brim hat appearing. “Glad that ya’ could finally make it after going through my boys like a blender chopping through fruit. Look, I already got two crazies running around and killing my employees and those that I work with. I don’t need another one of you.”
I stood there for a moment, waiting to see if anything else might happen… such as another one of his apparently terrible analogies, but eventually he spoke once again. “So… I’m just gonna kill ya’. Have at it!” I heard a small click behind and then a subtle beeping sound coming from the television in front of me. “Well… See ya’!”

Why are the people that inhabit this world so rude…

Arrest Warrent (Madness Combat Part 3)

Arrest Warrant

Out of their cruisers they stepped, doors open wide to help cover their fragile forms from any possible attack. “Freeze!” One of them yelled as the others laid the iron sights of their weapons upon me. I remained still, the blade in my hand vanishing in a burst of shadowy fire. “I submit as long as you take me to the sheriff.” I told them as they remained steady. “You killed our recruits! Like hell we’re going to let you come out of this alive.”
As the sigh escaped my lips, they began firing their weapons. I leaped out toward the nearby alleyway that I was referred to earlier by the first four to avoid the gunfire. My form dispersed as I went through the air, twisting when a blast from a shotgun landed into my hip. My body slammed into the ground and slid into the neighboring brick wall, but I could not remain on the ground for too long lest they finish me. They must not prevent me from getting to my appointment.
I forced myself up onto my feet and continued down the hallway, my form shifting to support my injured form as I went along. I ran down to the end of the alley and turned a corner, the sound of rushing feet following along close behind. Instead of continuing this little chase, I hugged close to the wall and waited for a moment.
When the first grunt came around the corner, I brought one of my hands up and slammed it into his chin, followed up by turning on heel and taking hold of the front of what made up his clothing. I pushed forward, managing to catch a few off guard, causing them to trip and fall back as I rushed forth with their lead. A few calls and a grunt and the man in my hands was slammed up against the opposing wall.
The butt of a shotgun came up, which I caught with my hands before snapping out a kick into the opposing man’s knee. Turning around, I brought the butt of the shotgun into another grunt’s chest, followed up by an elbow to the jaw of the man that still held onto the shotgun before prying it away and bringing it down into the center of his face with a small splatter of blood. Instead of allowing them to reform and start firing once again, I tossed the shotgun toward the closest man in the main group, reached back to grab the front of the second man that I was having to deal with and toss him straight into the crowd.
I ran up, leaped into the air, and slammed into a few of them. The one that had cushioned my fall, however cruel he might be, was taken out upon impact with the concrete below. As I stood, my hands came around a pistol that was held by another and brought it close, the bang that came from it followed by a yelp by someone to my other side. I fell back, bringing my feet up into the man’s gut and send him flying into one that had begun to stand up. I continued back in the roll to land on my feet and leap forward, slamming my shoulder into the closest firearm-wielder and forced him up into the brick wall, took hold of his chest, and tossed him over my shoulder into another.
A small click filled the air, I turned my head, and then a sudden clang as my head snapped back. The metal mask had saved my skull, yet I still stumbled back for a short moment. A cheer was heard and then was slowly cut off as I brought my head forward once again, the lead piece slowly falling away to cling against the ground. “Well… I suppose that you volunteered… Take me to the sheriff.”
My feet slowly moved forward, bullets slamming into my form with every step, occasionally
causing my body and head to jerk where they hit with sparks and small bursts of the shadowy fire that constituted my form. Eventually there were only clicks, my hands wrapping around the pistol, and prying it out of his hands. “Take me to him. Now.” The scared man, hands up in the air, slowly lowered them and gave a nod of his head. Being the kind, merciful individual I was, I simply ejected the magazine of the pistol, spawned a new one, and loaded it into the weapon.
            “Good… You understand.”
