The Sheriff May See You Now (Madness Combat Part 4)

The Sheriff May See You Now

It was easy enough to commandeer one of the patrol cars and, supposedly, make our way toward the Sheriff’s office with my new companion at the wheel. Despite my apparent resistance to physical trauma, my body was having to take a moment to heal from the few injuries I sustained. The clothing was warping to create a wrapping of bandaging around my visible abdomen as the injuries slowly healed, the mass of my form pulling together as we went along. A shirt of wrappings… Hmm… Fitting in a way. A means of keeping my body pulled together into a proper, humanoid shape.
I asked the man where we were in this world, what the Sheriff might want with someone such as myself, and anything else he might be aware of. He did not tell me of much… Only that we were in Nevada, that the Sheriff most likely wanted me dead once he found out what I had done, and very little past that point. It was almost as if he had no life to speak of… Granted, neither did I. All he knew was that I was not the only one who has attacked and killed good, hard working men.
So, I asked him about the others… He did not know anything about them before they began working together. In truth, they did not know anything about themselves before a certain point. Strange. We both sat silently, my mind mulling over these thoughts and why the sky appeared to be a very subtle red. This was nothing like the woman that had pulled me from the void… Only greys, blacks, whites, and reds… The people humanoid with grey flesh, and an odd plus sign on their head where their face would be, and all of them so violent.
My thoughts were broken as we pulled up to a building. I thanked him and stepped out of the car, the pistol that I confiscated from him still in hand. I stepped up to the building and walked right in without issue. There was another one of the grunts… They all looked the same to me… sitting at a desk with papers in hand. I simply stated that I had an appointment with the Sheriff and they directed me toward a room. Led me right to the room and, once we had arrived, he went on his way.
I stepped inside to find… predictably… nothing of use to me. It was a room with a television on a small, wooden, fold-out table that seemed to be more fit for holding a small plate of food than the box that sat upon it. It turned on, a man in a wide-brim hat appearing. “Glad that ya’ could finally make it after going through my boys like a blender chopping through fruit. Look, I already got two crazies running around and killing my employees and those that I work with. I don’t need another one of you.”
I stood there for a moment, waiting to see if anything else might happen… such as another one of his apparently terrible analogies, but eventually he spoke once again. “So… I’m just gonna kill ya’. Have at it!” I heard a small click behind and then a subtle beeping sound coming from the television in front of me. “Well… See ya’!”

Why are the people that inhabit this world so rude…

  1. You're in Nevada. Jesus! The only worse place you could be right now is fucking Texas!

    1. I have no idea who you might be either... but, always nice to meet new people. What is Texas?

    2. Texas is a few states further south. It is a hell hole. Besides, I've already introduced myself before. I'm just a close friend and patron of the jumper, Sigmund.

    3. You had yet to introduce yourself to me, however. Hmm... Very well. Hopefully he is aware of such patronage.

    5. One does not require previous memories to thrive... Case-in-point, myself. Void of a previous life, I am free to learn and advance as I please.
